For more than seven decades the Rebbe corresponded with thousands of people on nearly every subject — Talmud, science, education, marriage, health, livelihood and faith. Each writer received an individualized reply; a single question often opened into an extended correspondence.
This archive holds 12,727 letters from the 40-volume Igros Kodesh — 11,938 Hebrew/Yiddish and 789 English — topic-tagged, era-mapped, and fully searchable, plus letters being gathered from beyond the published volumes.
Many seek the Rebbe's guidance through the Igros Kodesh — placing a written request inside a volume and reading the opened letter as a response. The custom rests on the principle that nothing reaches a person by chance.
This archive is offered for study of the collection. The custom itself is kept with a physical volume, a written note, and intention.
